We live…..To leave

In the past year, I have witnessed a lot of funeral proceedings or as we say burial ceremonies. Some people I am close to, some people I knew from a distance and some by their death I learnt about them. This is not to add the many others before the past year.

Since COVID-19 broke out, a lot has happened and still happening. A lot of people have lost loved ones to a lot of reasons COVID-19 inclusive.

But this is not about the cause of death or reasons….

It is about LIFE. Because to die, we have to live first.

What has remained constant is that despite it all WE LIVE on earth TO LEAVE someday.

I have seen the poor, the surviving, the rich, the very rich and even the high and mighty die in these times.

I have heard all sorts about the living and many more when they are gone. Some pleasant, some public knowledge, some surprising.

I have witnessed how a lot of people have attended the funeral proceedings of the poor, the high and mighty and on the other hand, i have also seen how a handful of people attended funeral proceedings of the high and mighty and even the poor.

At every funeral, people are sober at least most people while some still are their annoying self.

What stands out is the fact that it is a time of tears….pain…. Loss. Most importantly, it is a time of reflection. Most times on the surface its a reflection of the life of the deceased but deep down, its a time of reflection for us.

The dead has no opportunity to right wrongs.

No opportunity to be nice to people in need.

No opportunity to apologize for hurts caused to others.

No opportunity to continue being nice

And same for us alive…. We can’t right any wrongs, we can’t be nice now to the dead or apologize if we have wronged the dead.

But we can still stop doing that wrong we can help those in need, we can apologize for those we hurt while we are still trudging through earth.

Let love and light lead.

Let us live remembering we will leave someday.

We LIVE to LEAVE someday.
