Childhood Chronicles

Nice one Muddie

012

That one time when as a kid, you think some other kid has a better life because he is going to have a meal your parents cannot afford at the time. You sit there wondering if the beans he is going to grind into paste will be used for Akara or Moi Moi. You silently wish he was your friend, so you can at least visit when the food is ready and then reality sets in when the letters O.Y.O from the TOYOTA van parked nearby, stick out as if to say ‘you are on your own’.

Always remember though, everything good will come and the feeling will be way better than the taste of Akara and Moi Moi or any other thing you wanted but couldn’t have at some point.
